Grant to Support Career Tech Education in Central Dauphin School District
8/12/2020
HARRISBURG – Central Dauphin School District has been awarded $206,150 in a Continuity of Education and Equity Grant to support career and technical education impacted by COVID-19 mitigation efforts, according to Rep. Andrew Lewis (R-Dauphin).

“As a huge proponent of workforce development and career and technical education, I’m thrilled that Central Dauphin School District will be receiving these funds. This grant can be used to buy protective equipment, cleaning products, technology for online programming and similar purchases that support student and staff health. These are federal CARES Act dollars passed through the state,” Lewis said.

Pennsylvania has more than 80 career and technical education centers, which prepare students for the workforce. The number of students earning industry-recognized credentials has grown by 50.1% in five years.

“Our career tech students often rely on hands-on learning to develop their skills. I’m thankful this grant can enable these students to keep learning, while helping school leaders to implement methods of reducing the spread of coronavirus,” Lewis said.

Approximately $10.5 million was allocated to centers across the state.
